If you are the kind of person who hates to see the dentist under ordinary circumstances, chances are you won't be keen to call on an dental emergency clinic when you have an urgent need. However, in times of dental crisis such a visit is unavoidable.
Finding an emergency dentist should not be a difficult task. If you call your regular dental office, they should be able to give you the number of a clinic dedicated to urgent treatment and accidents.
If you have injured yourself after hours or on a bank holiday when your ordinary dentist is not open, call their number and listen to the voice recording on their answering machine. This should give the number of an emergency practice. Call this number immediately and arrange an appointment.
If, for some reason these two options are not open to you, head straight to the emergency room at your local hospital. Here you should be able to receive pain medication and be redirected to an appropriate dental practice which will handle your situation.
If you do decide to go down this route, you should be prepared to wait in a long queue for treatment. Given this, it is generally better and more efficient to find an emergency dentist and skip a trip to the hospital all together.
